In a historic confirmation for the United States and especially Puerto Rico, the Honorable Gina R. Méndez-Miró has been chosen to serve for the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. She was the 100th judge to confirmed by Senate Democrats and is the first openly LGBTQ+ judge to hold her position in Puerto Rico. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRCF) have announced that Kelley Robinson (she/her) — a widely respected leader in the progressive movement — will become the organization’s ninth president and the first Black, Queer woman to lead the organization. By Lex Costello- On October 26, 2022, in a vote of 23-12, Tamaulipas became the last state in Mexico to allow same-sex marriages. Mexico’s lawmakers voted to amend the Civil Code of the state of Tamaulipas, despite 12 lawmakers voting against the amendment and two lawmakers abstaining from the vote.  Passage of the amendment filled supporters with joy, and as it passed, they cheered, “Yes, we can!” The amendment to allow same-sex marriage drew attention from many supporters and protesters who attended the session while the vote took place.
