2023 Disability:IN-North Carolina Wellness@Work Virtual Event
May 23, 2023
Disability:IN North Carolina (DI-NC) is the leader in driving disability inclusion throughout enterprise businesses in North Carolina through invigorating corporate disability initiatives, building best practices, and steering cultural transformation via our programs, technical support, and annual events.
Not only is May Mental Health Month, but it is also host to the Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome National Awareness Day. Our theme for 2023 is Preventative Health Care & Health Lifestyles @ Work.
What a great reminder to take a proactive approach to our self-care. DI-NC in conjunction with our sponsors, MetLife and Novant, is pleased to introduce Ali Ingersoll as our keynote speaker this year.
Ali Ingersoll is a day trader, disability strategy consultant, Ms. Wheelchair America 2023, writer, and public speaker.
Ali’s professional passion lies in coaching organizations on how to strategically create and implement disability inclusive policies and practices within organizations from C-suite leaders to employee resource groups. She accomplishes this through teaching how to minimize bias, increase advocacy, accountability, access, and inclusion internally.
Ali started her healthcare advocacy career after being repeatedly denied medically necessary equipment by insurance companies over the last 12 years since becoming a C6 quadriplegic and full-time wheelchair user after a shallow water diving accident. She focuses much of her advocacy work on health equity through helping people with significant disabilities get the proper approvals for the medically necessary equipment they need to not only survive in life, but to thrive to achieve a higher quality of life.
“As a C6 quadriplegic paralyzed from the chest down with limited arm function, preventative care and holistic wellness has afforded me the opportunity to work full-time from home with the energy and vitality needed to sustain long work hours in a wheelchair. Despite numerous ongoing secondary complications related to spinal cord injury, I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to thrive in my professional life with the help of mindful meditation, healthy inhabits, proper exercise, sleep, and a positive outlook on life.” – Ali
