To make a difference, changemakers have to be in the rooms where decisions are made —in the places where progress can take root and bloom to affect those who need it most.
In this issue, we are not only discussing your personal and professional rise to the top, but also celebrating those who use their positions and platforms to advocate for others not yet in the room.
Our cover story is about a Latina film and TV legend, Rosie Perez, who is outspoken on what the entertainment industry, as well as society, must do to promote diversity and inclusion.
“There are still very few Latino or Latina names [in television and film]. There are still very few just regular stories about us. There are still very few writers and directors,” Perez shared with Hispanic Network Magazine during her interview. “I think that it’s all about being in the room where initial decisions are made. If we are not in those rooms, progress is still going to continue at a snail’s pace.” Read more about this leading Latina on page 66.
If you and your organization are hoping to improve access to decision-making rooms, we encourage you to build employee resource groups (ERGs) and integrate them into your workplace culture. Learn more about “The Power of Employee Resource Groups” on page 46.

And if you’re still on your journey for a new job or career, check out some “Interview Dos and Don’ts” on page 30.
It’s time that all of us see ourselves and our unique stories represented in the rooms where it happens.
